Inverted Presence
Inverted Presence
An original artwork from my Double Exposure Series, Inverted Presence explores the quiet tension between form and absence. The piece is built around a negative silhouette—an intentional void that defines the composition—allowing the subject to emerge through what is not there as much as what is.
Within this space, a barn owl takes flight, rendered in rich, layered detail using Polychromos pencils. Soft, atmospheric textures and subtle bursts of colour surround the form, creating a sense of movement and depth that contrasts with the stillness of the silhouette.
This work invites a closer look at perception—how absence can hold as much presence as detail, and how light, space, and subject can coexist in delicate balance.
